Peter Decherney

 
 

I am a professor of Cinema Studies and English at the University of Pennsylvania, with a secondary appointment in Communication and an affiliation with the Center for Technology, Innovation, and Competition at Penn Law School.


My research focuses on media law and policy, especially the regulation of Hollywood.


My books include Hollywood: A Very Short Introduction, Hollywood’s Copyright Wars: From Edison to the Internet, and Hollywood and the Culture Elite: How the Movies Became American.


I am also the co-editor of the journal Critical Studies in Media Communication and books on Iranian Cinema in a Global Context and The Future of Internet Policy.


I am a contributor to Forbes (read my pieces here).
